Message from the Superintendent
Dear Placer Hills Families,
Welcome to the 2021/22 school year! I hope your summer included many fun-filled days and time with family and friends. I was lucky to be able to spend some time at the beach - one of my favorite places!
We are so excited to have our students return to a full school day, in-person schedule this year (school schedules are listed below). As we begin this school year, I am happy to announce that we will be able to once again offer sports and field trips, and volunteers will be welcomed back on campus! In addition, there are reduced quarantine requirements now in the event we encounter positive COVID-19 cases.
Please read this communication and the attachment carefully. It has information regarding the coming school year and the educational options, and their requirements, available to our Placer Hills students.
As you know, our school Board met on July 21, 2021 and took action to send a letter to CDPH requesting they consider local conditions when issuing health guidelines. A copy of this letter can be found on the District’s website.
The CDPH Guidance for Schools, that was released on July 12th, lifted many of the requirements that were in place last school year, with the exception of wearing face coverings indoors. After consulting with our legal counsel and insurance provider, we were informed that we must follow this requirement just as we had to adhere to the ones in place last year. There are financial and personal liability implications for not following these health mandates and the District has to continue to abide by them.
The good news is that masks will not be required outdoors. We will have outdoor spaces available for teaching outside and will have additional shade structures in place to help support outdoor learning.
