Message from the Superintendent
Placer Hills Families,
The Placer Hills Union School District is pleased to welcome you to the 2019-20 school year. I hope you had an enjoyable summer and feel rejuvenated for an exciting new year! If you are new to our district, thank you for trusting us to educate your child. We are looking forward to welcoming students on August 15th!
Over the summer, a team of Sierra Hills School employees attended an International Baccalaureate (IB) Conference. We are pleased to say that we already have many great programs in place to support IB in the Placer Hills Union School District. By bringing this rigorous, student-centered approach of teaching to our students, we will be ensuring that our mission of educating students to be contributing, global citizens in the 21st century is reached. More information about IB will be shared through the course of this school year!
Our teachers, staff, and administrators have an excellent year of learning planned for this school year. Teachers will be continuing their education on Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and administrators will be focusing on strengthening relationships with staff, students, and community.
I encourage you to get involved in our District community by joining the Placer Hills Education Foundation (PHEF) or the Parent Teacher Club (PTC) at your school site. Mark your calendar for PHEF’s annual BBQ & Brew at the Meadow Vista Park on September 14th, which will kick-off fundraising efforts. Profits received at their events support Art Docent, Spanish, Rockestra, Robotics and other programs. Any help you can provide is appreciated.
Please contact my office at (530) 878-2606 or speak to your site secretaries for more information about joining the PTC or PHEF.
I look forward to greeting you and your students on the first day of school, August 15th!
